4 The Cause

Not only did 4 THE CAUSE promote their music, but also their Christianity. In March 1993, the siblings Jason “J-Man” Edwards, his sister Shonna “Miss Lady” Edwards and their cousins Reshona “Shorty” Edwards and Bennie “BJ” Edwards Jr. founded a gospel group, back then called “Young Warriors for Christ”. Since 1997 the four singers are known as 4 THE CAUSE; until then they had performed at school festivals with different changing names, attended competitions and published a gospel album. A breakthrough was achieved in 1998 with their cover version of Ben E. King’s song “Stand By Me”.  It successfully landed on rank number 2 in the German and Austrian Charts and even climbed to rank number 1 in Switzerland. The self titled album includes in addition to cover versions like “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Let Me Be” also the band’s own compositions “Shine Again” and “Make Your Head Rock”.  In 2002 the quartette from Illinois presented their “Best of” album.
