John Sutherland

Born on 11th March 1983 in Columbus, Ohio / USA, John Sutherland started turning his hobby into a profession at a very young age. He demonstrated his talent in leading roles at the local Theatre („Oliver Twist”, “Tommy”, “Tom Sawyer” ) after which he was discovered by Matt Casela, who has already promoted artists like Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Matt organized a role for John in the Disney movie “AHA” and guest appearances in the American series “Law and Order”.

In 2001, shortly after his 17th birthday, John moved to New York in order to develop his career. The director Michael Maher, who has received a Tony Award, the author Steven Sater and Top Ten artist Duncan Sheik took John under their wings for their Broadway workshop “Spring Awakening”. In addition to various appearances at the “Broadway Dance Center”, John keepd working intensively on his vocals.

Shortly afterwards John was chosen to take part in a music project which was later to make three young New Yorkers famous – the boygroup “B3” receives a record deal and release 10 Singles and 3 albums that all land the Top 20 within three years.

In the fall of 2004, after 3 years of successful collaboration, “B3” decides to go separate ways. However, that does no put an end to John’s career!

Since then he has recorded the theme song “One True Heart”- a duet with US hit singer Sophie B. Hawkins- for the animated film “The Nutcracker and the Mouseking” and has performed two of his own songs in front of an enthusiastic audience at “Klangwolke 2004” in Linz / Austria.

In 2006 John published his first solo album „Don’t Look Back“. The sound is clearly influenced by the New Yorker rock scene and artists like David Bowie and T-Rex. One of the producers John has worked with is top producer Tommy D. (Kylie Minogue, Jamelia, Sugababes) who referred to John as “an exceptional talent with an amazing voice who will achieve international success”. When asking John how he manages to deal with everything, he answers self-confidently: “You have to believe in what you do and pay your undivided attention to it. I love what I do and I want it more than anyone else”. On 19 March 2006 “Rocket Man” was released, being the third single after “My Love Is Crazy” and “Keep Talking”.
