The Moffatts

In the mid-1980s, shortly after the youngest brothers were born, the family moved from Canada to the United States. The first activities as a group came in 1992 due to the influence of their mother, Darlana Moffatt, who is also a country musician. After a few gigs in Las Vegas, the brothers got their first recording contract and in 1993 their first country album It's a Wonderful World was released. The first issues appeared under the name The Moffatt Brothers, later re-releases carried The Moffatts as the band name. The second album "The Moffatts" followed in 1995 - in both cases the boys only contributed the vocals. There have already been video clips for the titles Guns of Love and I Think She Likes Me (both 1995). Father Frank Moffatt was his sons' manager from the start.

Presumably on the initiative of the record company EMI, there was a change in image in mid-1997: from country it went more in the direction of pop, and so the first single I'll Be There for You was released in Germany on December 10, 1997. The ballad Miss You Like Crazy followed in February 1998, and the accompanying album Chapter One: A New Beginning was finally released in May. The band was successful in Germany, also popular with young musicians such as Hanson, Gil Ofarim, Aaron Carter, Take 5 and the boy bands Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC, which have been successful for some time.

Three more single releases followed, Crazy, If Life Is So Short and Girl of My Dreams, as well as the single If you only know together with Gil Ofarim. A remastered version of the Chapter One album was produced for the US market in late 1998 and included some new songs. including the single Misery, co-written by Klaus Heuser of German band BAP. The new songs went much more in the direction of rock from the previously rather quiet pieces.

In August 2000 their last album Submodalities was released in Germany. The album was produced by Metallica producer Bob Rock, which once again had a clear effect on the band's style: They were more oriented towards the models Metallica and Nirvana. Another tour through Germany followed after the album, after which the Moffatts limited themselves to the American and Asian markets. Submodalities still had some success, particularly in Asia.
