New German Wave – Music for Eternity

With hits like "Da da da," "Ich will Spaß," and "99 Luftballons," New German Wave made music history. It was the Big Bang of German pop music that changed everything in the early 1980s: music, country, people. And continues to resonate today. The 90-minute documentary New German Wave. – Music for Eternity ranks the 20 best songs from this often-ridiculed but most influential period of German music history in all its diversity and its impact on today's German pop.

In exclusive interviews, heroes of the New German Wave era, such as Extrabreit singer Kai Havaii, Markus Mörl, Gaby "Ixi" Christensen, UKW frontman Peter Hubert, "Computerliebe" duo Paso-Doble, and Joachim Witt, tell their stories and share their experiences from the exciting New German Wave era, which coincided with the beginning of the 1980s. They'll be supported by author and music expert Alex Gernandt, who will put the songs into context within their social context.
