Alessandro Safina

With Alessandro's third album SOGNAMI, which will be released in April 2007, the Italian tenor has consolidated his exceptional position on the contemporary music scene. The German producer Alex Christensen brings his incomparable power and sensuality, great naturalness, stylistic intensity and intuitive understatement to bear in a remarkable way. SOGNAMI is filled with wonderful songs, a finely arranged mixture of Venetian flair and "chanson", bel canto enamel and Latin flavor, performed in Safina's distinctive timbre.

Can an Italian tenor sing a John Denver classic? Yes, if your name is Alessandro Safina. Alex Christensen, the producer of SOGNAMI, remembers how Safina came into the studio with a John Denver album in her hands and sang every single track on it. When he got to ANNIE'S SONG, the two men looked at each other and it was immediately clear to both: "We have to do this song!"

All in all, SOGNAMI took four months to complete: the vocal parts were recorded in Hamburg (Germany), while the instruments and strings were created in Los Angeles (USA) and Bratislava (Czech Republic). In addition to such immediate highlights as John Denver's ANNIE'S SONG and Charles Aznavour's TOUS LES VISAGES DE L'AMOUR, Safina covers a broad intellectual and musical spectrum on SOGNAMI. He sings 13 songs in 5 different languages: Italian, English, Spanish, French and even some Turkish. PLANANDO SU TE for example, both subtle and sophisticated, is arranged by Chris Walden, who actually wanted to give the material to Hollywood as a soundtrack before deciding to offer it to Safina. A wise decision indeed. “Alessandro exceeded all my expectations because he can work with his voice like an instrument. He lets things go and pushes them in the right direction,” says Alex Christensen. "I don't listen to my old albums when I record a new one," says the singer, "I always try to find songs that I really like". In ANNIE'S SONG, John Denver writes: "You fill up my senses, come fill me again". This is really how someone who hears SOGNAMI for the first time feels. The album will be released in 30 countries.
